Mary Ann McPherson…Mary Ann is the founder and CEO of Spectrum Village, Inc. Born and raised in the Detroit area she has a marketing degree from Michigan State University and an MBA from Loyola University of Chicago. Her professional career includes roles as a financial/budget/statistical analyst at Ford Motor Company, Morton-Norwich, and ADP as well as Enterprise Development Ventures (a small seed stage venture fund located in Ann Arbor, MI). She is a founding member of the Charlotte Latin Arts Association where she volunteered as department liaisons for visual arts and theater. She is the mother of two children, Alexis (23) and Adam (19), and step-mother to Sara and Heather. Her son was diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder (PDD-NOS) and is the inspiration for this project. Adam’s concerns about his future started the process of building a place for young adults like him to have a supportive place to live and thrive in Charlotte, NC. While considering where he would live she began working with another non-profit planning to build an entrepreneurial center utilizing recycled shipping containers. This idea became the foundation for the concept of building this structure in the most environmentally friendly manner, with sustainability in mind, using shipping containers. Mary Ann and her husband Duncan have resided in Charlotte for 12 years.
Spectrum Village, Inc. is incorporated in the State of North Carolina as a non-profit and is finalizing their 501 (C) (3) applications.
