Mary Waller, Vice President … Mary is a senior communications professional currently supporting employee communications for the Institutional & Individual Operations area at TIAA-CREF. In earlier lives, she worked for 19 years for a Fortune 50 company before forming her own general PR and communications firm specializing in media relations, corporate messaging, crisis communications, executive coaching and writing/editing. Immediately after graduating from Brown University, she worked for the Charlotte Observer. Mary lives in Weddington, NC, with her husband Mike, one of their three children (Sarah, 17), three cats and a dog. (The other two kids are grown – Juliet, 21, is a senior in college; Lincoln, 23, and his wife Jennifer are in Seattle where he works for Microsoft.) Mary has served with Spectrum Village’s president Mary Ann McPherson at their children’s school, particularly supporting the performing arts programs. She also serves on the board of trustees for the Jessie Ridley Foundation, which provides scholarships for physically disabled students.
